Ahh, EVO!

We talked about Under Night last week, so here are the other Evo announcements.

Street Fighter 6‘s next fighter, A.K.I., was shown off. She’s a poison user, much like her master, F.A.N.G.

New costumes were also shown, with Juri’s taking the internet by storm.

Finally, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover was announced, revealing new costumes and actions for your created fighter. Each turtle’s costume is fifteen friggin bucks though, so maybe hold out on this one.

Next, Tekken, where two characters were confirmed. First, the return of the male Raven, who does in fact look sick as hell.

Followed by Azucena, a Peruvian fighter who has entered the tournament to advertise her coffee brand.

SNK updated us on a few things, starting with two new DLC characters for King of Fighters XV. Najd, the character who was designed by a fan and put into XIV as a contest prize, is returning.

Also revealed was Duo Lon, who originated in KoF 2003.

King of Fighters XIII‘s rollback netcode edition will release November 16th.

The previously teased Garou follow-up has a name, and it is Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

Guilty Gear Strive‘s next update will include a variety of new moves for certain characters, new universal options, and Johnny, leader of the Jellyfish Pirates. He releases August 24th.

The next fighter revealed for Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2 is Plankton, who will be riding a giant (for him) mech of himself. Karen, his computer wife, will also assist in some moves.

Project L‘s next addition is Yasuo. Sorry I don’t know League of Legends, he’s a samurai of some kind.

The 2013 Killer Instinct game will be receiving an update for its tenth anniversary. Character balance changes, a 4k patch for Xbox Series systems, and matchmaking fixes.

Mortal Kombat 1 is adding Reptile, as well as Mortal Kombat Deception characters Havik and Ashrah.

And hey, Idol Showdown, the Hololive fan fighter, has added Pekora and a Marine stage. It’s out…now!

Eek, AI!

In the midst of its promotion during Gen Con last weekend, Wizards of the Coast is once again facing scrutiny over Dungeons & Dragons’ latest release, Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants!, when artist Ilya Shikipin has admitted to the use of AI to assist in the creation of artwork for the book. Wizards has quickly released a statement purporting that they will be updating their process and policies to ensure artists should not be ussing AI generation in producing official artwork. A further official statement has been made on the official D&D Beyond channels, indicating there are plans to rework the existing artwork in Glory of the Giants in future prints of the book.

A few voice actors have expressed concerns over a HoYoverse job listing that may be considering AI use in their field of work, which seeks a “Speech and Audio Researcher” to help develop “generative models” using “internal large high quality speech datasets.” The listing has since been removed from HoYoverse’s official job board.

And Everything Else!

Beginning with the game’s next expansion, Keith David will be taking over the role of Commander Zavala in Destiny 2. Actor Lance Reddick unfortunately passed away around spring of this year, and was the voice behind the character since the first game.

Jujutsu Kaisen is now in Fortnite.

A Twitch streamer is facing multiple charges over inciting a riot in Union Square, New York City as a result of a giveaway gone out of hand.

Nintendo has reportedly registered a handful amount of patents for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some of the revealed patents seem to describe mechanics Link can use in the game. It’s also very broad, which has led to many speaking out against the patents.

Members of Marvel visual effects (VFX) teams have officially filed for a unionization election with the National Labor Relations Board. A group of more than 50 employees will be represented by IATSE (the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees). Chartered with the Animation Guild, IATSE has represented other animation shops such as all Titmouse locations and Powerhouse Animation Studios.

After thorough discussion behind the scenes, Dropout has officially designed to resume production. The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes continue, but independent and liveplay productions like Dimension 20 and Critical Role are not associated with the AMPTP.

Alongside the start of this year’s Quakecon, a new remaster of Quake II has released. This remaster contains all expansions, Quake II‘s N64 port, crossplay for the multiplayer, and a brand new expansion.

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian is trying to take remedial steps to ensure localization staff get proper credit, which to their discovery, are uncredited in the current state of the game.

Princess Maker 2 Regeneration is set to release on multiple consoles. Regeneration will be a new edition of Princess Maker 2 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original game’s release.

Author of the Metro novels of the franchise and video game series of the same name Dmitry Glukhovsky has been given an 8-year prison term by authorities by openly speaking out against the Russo-Ukraine war, critical of the Russian government. Glukhovsky currently does not reside in Russia, and his trial was held in absentia.

Roblox now has the “Hamilton Simulator”, in which users can play out the events of the Revolutionary War, framed by the hit musical’s storyline and Roblox-versions of its characters.
