Watch_Dogs 2 was pretty alright! That’s the opinion of a lot of people I know, despite the general animosity towards the first game in the series. While it was very hit or miss, the swerve towards dealing with more comedic elements and a distinct aesthetic definitely gave the game a more solid footing in the flooded and bloated open-world market. Based on a new listing on Amazon UK for what appears to be the next entry in the series however, things might be going back to a more serious approach.
Watch_Dogs Legion was listed today on Amazon UK with the following description:
Watch_Dogs Legion is set in a near-future, dystopian version of London. It’s a post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London’s fortunes. The listing also includes a single blurb about how the game will feature the ability to play as any NPC you come across, with full and distinct voice acting, character skills, and animations.
I actually enjoyed what I saw of Watch_Dogs 2 through let’s plays and secondhand conversations with my girlfriend, so I’m sort of not exactly looking forward to a game that seems to be going back to the super seriousness that Aiden Pearce and his iconic cap floundered under. I’m also very questioning about the feature to play as any NPC, as the original Watch_Dogs boasted similar impressive gameplay concepts and conceits for the time, which ultimately proved to be nothing but smoke and mirrors.
We’ll probably find more about Watch_Dogs: Legion, whatever it really is, next week at E3.
