After several months of hushed whispers about the NX, and no word from Nintendo, German research group GFK has apparently spilled the beans on what we can expect from Nintendo’s next major console. A Nintendo client, GFK has included some juicy NX info on one of its recent surveys, detailing various features that would be included with NX fresh out of the box. Notably, it mentions the console being both a traditional home TV console as well as a handheld device, echoing the NX information given by the Wall Street Journal last October that we also reported on. It also mentions previously unreported features like video streaming at 4K, 900p/60 FPS graphics, and the ability to make video calls on the console. The inclusion of a sensor bar also implies that the console could be backwards compatible with the Wii and/or Wii U.

If these rumors are true, then it would seem that Nintendo is trying to finally catch up with Microsoft and Sony in terms of online connectivity and functionality. Of course, how well these features will actually function remains to be seen, as does how much effort Nintendo will put into supporting them. Hopefully by the time E3 2016 is over, we’ll have enough hard info to see if the NX will be Nintendo’s next big comeback or not.
