Sony’s Playstation 4 3.0 firmware update will be coming soon and will add quite a lot to the console according the PS Blog. Though the update has no official release date yet, they did say that users who signed up for their preview program will be seeing these changes “very soon”. The update will expand cloud storage from 1 GB to 10 GB and will add an auto-upload option for those who don’t enjoy manually moving saves around. YouTube streaming will also be available now to go along with Twitch which is pretty handy now that YouTube Gaming has finally launched as well.

There will also be an Events hub added, user created communities where screenshots can be shared and parties created, clip sharing directly onto Twitter, and the ability to request a friend of yours begin to live stream whatever game they’re playing among other changes/improvements. Despite being considered the leader in the console race, a lot of these changes seem like catch up maneuvers to me. Both the Xbox One and the Wii U have had similar capabilities that the PS4 is only now getting. It seems, just like with the PS3, Sony is a bit behind when it comes to software updates.

Either way this is great for all PS4 owners and I’ll take anything that improves any of the consoles.
