Greetings. I’m Tristan, a new writer joining Chooch from Orlando, Florida! I’m looking forward to working in VGCC and hopefully I’ll be able to write as much as I can about fighting games and the fighting game community here.
I’m real big on fighting games as well as eSports, so naturally I like to follow the fighting game community’s competitive side to try and understand why people do the things they do in tournaments. I also like the FGC because people are still there to play, but not everyone has a stick up their ass as you might be accustomed to seeing in other eSports (which I won’t name because I cherish them ALL). I’ve been playing fighting games for a little bit now after getting hooked on ‘em from attending CEO 2017 with some friends and watching the Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- tournament that was going on.
For a while, my buddies and I were absolute Tekken 7 FIENDS (not in the sense that we were great, just in the sense that we needed it at all times) and since then I’ve played pretty much any major fighting game to come out recently, 2D, 3D, Anime, or not. My friends kind of know me as the guy who seems to always be having a character crisis AND a game crisis (P5 Arena pls) unless something really smacks me upside the head, but I manage to settle down after DLCs. Even though I started being serious with Tekken 7, anime fighters are still what brought me into fighting games and were still my very first games, so I really am rooted in many facets of the FGC.
In terms of non-fighting game stuff, I am an absolute hoe for Persona 5 and the Persona series, and I distinctly remember my first console games being Luigi’s Mansion and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, like many. Switch games have been most of my time spent single-player recently, so please talk to me about Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
If you guys need me I’ll be in the Blazblue: Central Fiction and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 retirement home, peace.
