Besides formally announcing Yakuza Kiwami 2 with a new trailer (which you can find at the bottom of this article), the Yakuza dev team revealed two new games, and they sure are a shock.

The first is Yakuza Online, the first game in the “new series” which takes place after the events of Yakuza 6. It stars a new character, Ichiban Kasuga, a Tojo clan member who takes the rap for a crime he didn’t commit, then comes back to a Kamurocho slowly dying. Yakuza Online will launch for mobile phones and PC in 2018 for free with microtransactions.

The second game is the real surprise, and it’s a Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken game called Hokuto no Gotoku.

In case you couldn’t tell from the trailer, it’s basically a Yakuza game reskinned with Fist of the North Star characters. Ken is even played by Kiryu’s voice actor Takaya Kuroda. Most of the game will be set in Eden, a city untouched by the post-apocalyptic destruction the rest of the world succumbed to. Ken’s there to find his fiance, whoop some ass, and mix some drinks along the way.

It seems a bit up in the air if these latter two games will come overseas. Online games are often difficult to support in different regions if the demand isn’t large, and Fist of the North Star isn’t exactly a high profile anime these days. Fingers crossed we get them, however, as they both seem fantastic.
