Supergiant, the developers who have put out very well regarded games like Bastion and Transistor, have announced their third game and it’ll be at PAX East. It’s called Pyre and seems to be a departure from the gameplay of their previous games while keeping the craft that went into them that made their previous works hits.

Pyre takes place in an odd purgatory called “Downside” where groups of people, known as Exiles, compete to gain their freedom and absolve themselves of their sins. On the gameplay side it seems like combat will involve quick action between your band of Exiles and opposing groups. Out of combat there seems to be a lot of moving around an overworld with various choices as you go.

Supergiant games might not always be my cup of tea but there are always enchanting to look at and to hear so I’m looking forward to that. The game is set to be released on Steam and Playstion 4 simultaneously sometime in 2017.
