Hi there, readers of Video Game Choo Choo! I’m Niall Black, the site’s new podcast editor, video guy and, starting a couple of months from now, Chooch’s official Man in Japan™. I’m a videographer, sound engineer and musician by trade, but video games have been a passion of mine for most of my life, so when Lauren and John Michon offered me a spot on the new Chooch crew, I couldn’t turn the opportunity down.
I’m originally from Ireland, and am currently finishing up a short-term residence in Canada, before setting out for Japan, where I’ll be covering games for the site, and hopefully helping to turn Chooch into a true 24-hour news source. You can also expect a bunch of editorials and videos from me on obscure Japanese games that’ll likely never hit these shores, as well as early hands-ons with major Japanese releases (Persona 5, hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge).
I’m a big fan of RPGs of all kinds, as well as the occasional shooter, extreme sports game, or visual novel, and my favourite games are Danganronpa 2, Persona 4 Golden, Mirror’s Edge, Catherine, and SSX 3. When I’m not covering games for the Chooch, you’ll find me watching New Japan Pro Wrestling, watching bad movies, hanging out at punk shows and trying to learn kanji. By the way, what’s your favourite music game?
Mine’s Vib Ribb-john.
Fire him immediately for the last line.
B-b-but Mask. He likes NJPW. I need him here.
I’m sorry Mask. 🙁
