A new character was announced during the Tekken World Tournament finals, and it wasn’t exactly one many people would expect.

Noctis Lucis Caelum, the protagonist of last year’s Final Fantasy XV will be joining the famous fighting game’s roster. Noctis will launch alongside a new stage based on the Hammerhead gas station from FFXV, which features several of his buddies in the background.

Noctis’ kit looks very inspired by his playstyle in FFXV, featuring him using a ton of his different royal arms (those are all those crazy weapons he’s using), and his signature warp strike style. Though it’d be a lot cooler if the car with all his buds was omnipresent in each stage you could fight on, I understand why the developers wouldn’t wanna go nuts on a guest character like that.

It’s weird to see Noctis coming out in another fighting game so soon, since Square Enix’s own Final Fantasy fighter, Dissidia NT, is scheduled for release in January of next year, meaning Noctis may very well compete against another game he’s featured in, at around the same time. Bizarre.

Noctis and Hammerhead will be launching as DLC for Tekken 7 in Spring of 2018. As a gift for you, here’s a picture of Noctis fishing with Lars from Tekken.
