It’s a good time to be a Dragon Ball fan. This year saw the return of fan-favorite villain Frieza in new movie Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, and next month will see the release Dragon Ball Super, the first new TV show released for the franchise in almost two decades. On top of all that, soon you’ll be able to relive every classic fight from Dragon Ball Z on the 3DS with Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden.
Released earlier this month in Japan, Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden has been officially confirmed to release in Europe, the Middle-East and Australasia on October 16, and in the United States on October 20. This western release was confirmed by Namco Bandai over twitter earlier this morning. This 2D Fighting game collaboration between Namco Bandai and Arc System Works features a roster of 20 heroes and villains and 100 assist characters from all across the legendary franchise.
While it may seem like a no-brainer to bring a Dragon Ball game overseas, the last game in the Butoden series, Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butōden, was passed over for a western release and remained exclusive to Japan. Getting confirmation that this installment wouldn’t suffer the same fate is definitely a relief for Dragon Ball fans. I know I’ll be putting in some training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to get ready to fight on October 20.
