At the end of last year, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker trekked onto the Wii U and charmed players with its whimsical atmosphere and fun puzzle-box gameplay. Now, with the Toad amiibo and amiibo support for the game both launching in just over a month on March 20, game director Shinya Hiratake opted to do a “miiting” with interviewer “MariChan” over miiverse about the game.

In the interview, Hiratake covers a lot of ground about the game. From its Arabian Nights inspiration (as can be seen above with main villain Wingo), to the ideas and changes that happened over the process of creating it, and even some easter eggs, a wide variety of questions were answered an discussed. Notably, it’s mentioned that other amiibo besides the Toad one will be compatible with the game, though no specifics were given. I doubt it’s anything too major, but the extra addition is definitely appreciated.

If there’s one thing to take away from this interview, it’s that this game was a true labor of love by Hiratake and the rest of the Captain Toad team. You can read the whole thing over at the miiverse website, which I highly reccomend doing!
