Square Enix detailed quite a bit about the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided at their E3 conference today . The sequel to Human Revolution apparently takes place two years afterwards and once again stars Adam Jensen, who is presumably still not asking for this.
Jensen is now apparently an agent in the service of a counter-terrorist Interpol unit known as Task Force 29, but is also working as a double agent to expose enemies of a more shadowy nature. Those with augmentations are now outcasted in a situation described as “mechanical apartheid,” proving that not everyone likes robots after all. The Illuminati were also mentioned, so we might get back to some of those delicious conspiracy roots of the series.
Gameplay was previewed later in the day during the PC conference along with an inside look at the intricate clutter of the game’s maps. Much like Human Revolution, Mankind Divided will allow players to progress through levels in a variety of ways.
