]]> When you start talking about Skate 4, you invite a plague upon your home. A rain of frogs, chirping “#Skate4”, falls from the heavens and hops around for hours before moving on to EA’s newest Instagram post or twitter promotion. Scan through any of EA’s attempts to promote whatever game is releasing at that time, and you’ll see the plague drifting through in full force. So it would seem insane for anyone at EA to acknowledge this Skate 4 coup without having some clear statement, one way or another, about that franchise. Step in EA community manager Daniel Lingen.

Daniel mysteriously tweeted #skate4 right before heading to PAX South and never mentioning the tweet again. This of course stirred up every Skate 4 enthusiast, raising hopes of those who had been so thoroughly let down by Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. Then everything got even juicier when Jenkem Magazine did an interview with Tony Hawk about the history of THPS and fanned the Skate 4 flames with his final answer.

When asked if there were any plans for another THPS game in the works, the Hawk replied:

Not from Activision. I’m potentially working on something but it’s so early I couldn’t talk about it. I don’t have any contracts signed but it’s exciting. I feel like it’s with the right people so I should know more in the next couple months.

It’s nothing official, and if it is still in early development then who knows how this could all pan out. However it seems pretty clear to me. #Skate4 exists and the plague of hashtags will never end.
