It’s a big one this week as Scott is joined by Maverick and a returning Christine to discuss the last couple weeks in games. Christine’s been digging deep into Samurai Warriors 5, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Cris Tales, and of course her Final Fantasy XIV quick update from the floor of LunarCon. Maverick’s giving us our final update after finishing Tales of Berseria and tell us about his time in Death’s Door and Neo: The World Ends With You. Meanwhile, Scott’s been digging his way into the new Nier: Reincarnation and digging deep into the mod scene of Half-Life 2 because he’s got to have those iron sights.

We open the news segment this week with a discussion the recent lawsuit against Activision Blizzard. With the heavy stuff our of the way we take on the quick hits of Genshin Impact 2.o’s release, Horizon: Forbidden West being delayed, the new DLC for The Outer Wilds, Echoes of the Eye being announced as well as a Half-Life 2 Collection remaster. We finish it off by taking out the pizza cutter to take a good slice of your questions.

A new Ratchet and Clank is coming and it looks like it continues the series tradition of wacky weapons and interesting platforming. This time with teleporting through space rifts to instantly send yourself to another area of the level. It looks like it adds some really interesting wrinkles for both combat and traversal. I’ve always really enjoyed the Ratchet games and this one looks like more of that so I’m definitely looking forward to it. You add in girl Ratchet from an alternate world and I just want to ask what that means. Is it Multiplayer? Is it just “hey sometimes you are in another world where you play as girl Ratchet”? I need to know. Especially since with the way Ratchet works, multiplayer could be completely wild, so color me intrigued to find out more.

As seen in the videos below, the gameplay is a familiar mix of mechanics and weapons from accross the Ratchet and Clank and Ratchet and Clank Future franchises. New weapons like the Pixelizer (which does exactly what the name implies) will also be added to the game’s massive arsenal. Those who preorder the game will get exclusive access to classic weapon The Bouncer. Memorable moments from the original game like battling the Blargian Snagglebeast show up, with new worlds and bosses set to appear as well.

In a world where far too many HD games fail at properly using color pallettes that aren’t muddy and drab, it’s definitely refreshing to see a game as pretty and fluid as this get made, let alone promoted so heavily. Assuming I’m able to pick up a PS4 by the time it comes out, Ratchet and Clank will definitely be on my list of games to buy.
