VGCC Episode 117: Young Link’s MooMoo Milk

Niall — Mon, 28 Mar 2016 23:20:03 +0000

I can’t believe it either, but somehow, someway, Chooch has hit 117 episodes! Ryan, Michael and John argue about the best way to eat a tuna sandwich, and John loves anime. Ryan’s been playing Aliens vs. Predator, Michael visited some Magic Kingdoms. John’s a heathen who doesn’t like Stardew Valley, but he does like Pokken! 5th Cell is dealing with layoffs, Evolution Studios is shutting, Ryan’s roommate has a marimba, and there’s a new SKU of the PS4 coming! We run down this week’s Nintendo news, and the dumbasses on the show don’t know who Sebastian is.

Pokkén Getting A North American Test Run

Morgan — Thu, 23 Jul 2015 02:40:32 +0000

Are you in North America and are dying to try out the upcoming Pokémon and Tekken crossover, Pokkén Tournament? Well sadly, the game still hasn’t been announced for a wide North American release. At some point in the near future however, Pokkén will be breaching our shores with a small test run.

Dave & Busters, which totally isn’t just Chuck E. Cheese for adults, will be testing the game at certain locations. D&B executive (and one of the creators of the original Xbox) Kevin Bachus confirmed this in a Reddit AMA, which isn’t too shocking considering Tekken 7 is also getting a test run at a measly three D&B locations.

There are 70 D&B locations in the U.S. and Canada but no word yet on how many are receiving Pokkén, or when. Bachus mentioned he is “more optimistic about [Pokkén] and our typical guests than Tekken,” which seems to indicate he and NAMCO are banking hard on the nostalgia factor of their target audience. If that’s the case and the test does well, Pokkén could be seeing a wider release much sooner than expected.

Pokkén Tournament High Jump Kicks into Japanese Arcades this Summer

Kay — Fri, 13 Feb 2015 05:21:51 +0000

Today at the Japan Amusement Expo, Bandai Namco announced that they will be releasing Pokkén Tournament this summer in Japanese arcades. The game was featured at the expo, where fans got to give it a try prior to release. No new characters or stages were announced, but several new screenshots might have “deconfirmed” several potential roster additions, including Snorlax, Ambipom, Electivire, Sawk, Watchog, and others. Of course, the real question is whether or not Pokkén Producer Katsuhiro Harada in a Pikachu costume will be playable in the final roster.
