Unlimited Rail Works Episode 84: March Comes in Like a Lion

Rose — Thu, 07 Apr 2022 17:56:53 +0000

Everyone is back together again (how many times will we say this) to discuss Shaft’s 2016 anime adaptation of Chica Umino’s March Comes in Like a Lion. Elvie has also been watching some of The Great Pretender, while pondering the purpose of musical artist Eve’s recent visual album Adam. Maverick and John dive into the more complex themes and ideas around the ending to Dress Up Darling, while also checking in on Ranking of Kings. Rose meanwhile, only really watched Columbo, but man, Columbo is really good.

The opening to this episode is “Answer” by Bump of Chicken, who also perform the ending, “Fighter”.

Unlimited Rail Works Episode 82: Princess Jellyfish

John — Sat, 12 Mar 2022 06:32:08 +0000

Tequila! It’s time for another anime review, where the crew watched the very 2010 anime Princess Jellyfish. How does this show about being yourself and wearing your heart on your sleeve fare in 2022 and in the eyes of our Animae Experts?

Plus, Maverick’s a Golden Boy, John keeps us Poke-posted, Rose is giving Planet With another shake, and Elvie listened to gruff men be gruff in Vinland Saga.

The opening is “Just Between Us” by Chatmonchy and the ending is “Kimi ni Kirei no Kizuite Okure” by Sambomaster, both from Princess Jellyfish.

Unlimited Rail Works Episode 80: Roujin Z

Rose — Fri, 11 Feb 2022 03:38:26 +0000

Back from a busy January, Unlimited Rail Works reconvenes with a special guest! Friend of the show Brian Hanson (@yourpalbrian1) popped in to have us all watch Roujin Z, a 1991 film from Akira writer Katsuhiro Otomo. Later on, Elvie discusses Requiem of the Rose King, and her new year plans for Katanagatari, while Maverick has been taking it easy with Dress Up Darling and Ranking of Kings, a show that John has also been enjoying while getting caught back up with the bi-weekly Pokémon minute.

The opening theme to this episode is “Happy Circle” by Bun Itakura, while the ending song is “Run, Bicycle Run” by Mishio Ogawa.

Unlimited Rail Works Episode 72: Irresponsible Captain Gengar

John — Thu, 23 Sep 2021 23:22:55 +0000

It’s a laid back, low content episode of URW this time as Rose hands the keys back to John so she can be sick elsewhere. He also basically just watched Pokemon stuff, so that’s it from him. Meanwhile, Maverick watched Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Words Bubble Up, and…Ted Lasso, which is anime we promise. Elvie rounds us off by talking about Iruma, Jahy, Higurashi, and Magia Record!

The OP is “Just Think of Tomorrow” by Kawai Kenji from Irresponsible Captain Tylor and the ED is “Tsumari wa Itsumo Kujikenai” by Hololive NEGI U from Great Jahy.

Unlimited Rail Works Episode 71: Daily Lives of High School Boys

Rose — Thu, 09 Sep 2021 22:57:05 +0000

This month’s anime was 2012’s memetic powerhouse Daily Lives of High School Boys, a story all about how we all dread being perceived. John’s continuing to grapple against the torture that is Dragon Maid, while also demanding a bit more faithfulness from the Pokémon anime. Elvie is watching Fena: Pirate Princess, and tuned into a Macross concert stream to lament its handling in the West. Rose finished Kamen Rider Fourze and pined for more drills, while questioning what the heck is going on in Remake Our Life!

The opening to this episode is “Shiny tale” by Mix Speakers, Inc. and the ending theme is “O-hi-sama” by Amesaki Annanin.
