]]> It’s been a very busy week, and Scott, Elvie, Maverick, and Melissa have a whole lot to talk about in this longer than usual podcast. Scott started up Knockout City, Elvie talks about several games including Later Daters, Before Your Eyes, Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield, and subjected herself to various pandemic-themed games on Steam, including Left on Read. Maverick has his own thoughts on site-favorite game Yakuza: Like a Dragon and how it compares to Yakuza 6, as well as Ratchet and Clank (2016), and Unbeatable [white label]. Melissa has all the deets from the latest Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest, and teases a forthcoming review for Famicom Detective Club.

The news hasn’t slowed down either! IGN’s whole situation is kind of a mess right now, the Epic v. Apple case continues to be a disaster leaking some redacted info about Nintendo, Genshin and Honkai Impact are having a crossover, Twitch officially states that being sexy is not a crime, Ubisoft’s employees are now starting trial against the company following many workplace abuse allegations, a new Dragon Quest themepark has opened while the series is expecting some big news hitting its 35th anniversary, Blizzard continues to be in a rough spot with few active projects and several high profile resignations, and we remember the influential Berserk mangaka Kentaro Miura, who unfortunately passed away.

]]> The charity driven bundling service known as Humble Bundle has a new owner: IGN. Yes, that IGN. The massive gaming/entertainment website now owns a game publisher and arbiter. Both IGN and Humble have been very direct by stating this won’t change anything for either company, Humble will continue to operate as is just with more resources, and IGN will keep Humble independent from the rest of their business. This could be a very good thing for Humble, especially if they were struggling, however nothing about this deal feels right.

For one, IGN runs a gaming review and news site. Owning a gaming publisher and store on the side while you’re reviewing and discussing the same games is a little murky. Granted if the two companies do stay independent and separate, then hopefully this will all work out. One would hope, however, that IGN and their parent company J2 Global would really examine how the two businesses will operate, to insure they stay away from one another.

Humble has been one of the best bundling sites out there. They’ve committed to their charity push, recently announcing they’ve donated a total of $100 million in their lifespan, and provide a wonderful service to consumers. I really hope this serves Humble well because right now the pessimist inside me is setting off alarm bells.
