It’s one of the biggest weeks of news in a while as WB announced a Smash Brothers clone called Multiversus, Sony had a Star Ocean full of news drop during their State of Play, Among Us is adding new roles in the next content update, and in sadder news, PAX South is coming to an end and apparently Pokimane owns EVO. Oh, you thought I was done? Amazon’s New World is a complete mess, Blizzard officially changed McCree’s name, Blizzcon was cancelled, and Bobby Kotick took a pay cut in a failed attempt at good PR. Far Cry 6 has horrible marketing, Resident Evil had a big week, the Wu-Tang clan are making an RPG and Shoji Meguro is leaving ATLUS to make his own game. Speaking of new games, A Quiet Place is getting a game tie-in from iLLOGIKA, Digimon Survive is now coming in 20222 and ConcernedApe has the Haunted Chocolatier in the works. We’re also getting a new third party DLC character in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Melty Blood: Type Lumina‘s DLC Rollout is starting this winter.

Developer Eric Barone (also known as ConcernedApe) took to the Stardew Valley forums to outline the entire list of upcoming changes, which can be read in its entirety here. If you just want the highlight reel, however, check out our summary below:

• The game will now feature five different farm layouts that can be chosen at character creation, including Standard Farm, Riverland Farm (“Lots of water, good for fishing”), Forest Farm (“Foraging opportunities and a unique weed that always drops mixed seeds”), Hill-top Farm (“Has a small mineral deposit from which ores spawn, including a unique geode-bearing ore”), and Wilderness Farm (“Bats and Golems spawn at night”).
• Shane and Emily are now available to marry. Spouses have an “outdoor area” and unique behavior on the farm, and will no longer get jealous when the player gives other NPCs gifts on their birthdays. In addition, spouses can now be divorced.
• Several new farm buildings and magical constructions, including permanent warp totems.
• Some NPCs now sell “Catalogues,” which can be used for unlimited free access to certain items.
• Void Salmon have been introduced, and Void Eggs will now make Void Mayonnaise.

There’s a lot of other new features for Stardew Valley on the list, which again, can be viewed here. The 1.1 update also fixes a lot of bugs, including making sure plums are labeled as fruit and preventing rain noises from being played in the desert. Overall, it’s a lot of changes that might bring a lot of people (including me) back to a game they haven’t played in a while.

For those who want to check out the beta, it can be accessed from Stardew Valley in your Steam library. Right-click, go to “properties,” and then check out the “betas” tab for the download.
