Super Mario Maker will be getting an important update on November 4th that will add some classic Mario staples to the game’s level builder. This will include the addition of checkpoints, allowing players to include up to two of them in a level. This means that levels will no longer have to be beaten in one try, forcing you to start over from the beginning upon death. The other major Mario mechanic being added is the use of conditional power-ups. This means that you’ll be able to have a ? block produce either a Super Mushroom or a Fire Flower depending on whether or not Mario is small.
In addition, this update will also be adding Event Courses and an Official Makers section to the game’s Course World community. The former will feature levels created by people outside Nintendo for special events, while the latter will have levels specifically created by Nintendo. Of course, the most important part of this update is the addition of a Hard Mode to the fly-swatting minigame.
Whether you want to build more courses or just kill bugs, this update is looking like a great addition to a great game.
