Alan Wake is talked about with high regard from almost anyone who played the game on the last generation of hardware. Fans of the game have been patiently waiting for word if Alan Wake will return to our video game consciousness or if he will remain a distant memory. Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake’s developer, recently released some video and screenshots of a potential Alan Wake 2. The content is all from a pitch video, not a real video game that was under development, but no publisher would take Remedy up on supporting development for the sequel.

Then Remedy let slip that they are in talks with Microsoft to port over the original Alan Wake, and all its DLC, to the Xbox One. And from there Remedy hopes to finish their current in-development title Quantum Break and find a publisher for Alan Wake 2 on the current generation. Unlike the original, Remedy says the sequel could potentially go to the PC or even Sony.

Maybe a port could be convincing enough for someone to publish a sequel, but I’m pessimistic. If a game sells 4.5 million copies and can’t get a sequel I don’t see the port changing anyone’s mind. But I wouldn’t mind being proven wrong.
