2015 has become an empty husk for video game releases. Dead Island 2 was originally slated to be released spring 2015 but Yager, the game’s developer, says they haven’t reached their goals with the game and are delaying it to 2016. No word on exactly when in 2016 but another spring date sounds about accurate. And incidentally this also gives us all time to forget how good Dying Light was and possibly start craving another zombie melee game to fill that void.

This is a lengthy delay however. It probably isn’t too shocking that it comes since we’re already heading into May and no word was passed around for a hard release date. But to delay a game so close to release for so long suggests the game is no where near where it needs to be. Delays, however, are usually good things. The longer a developer gets to work on something the better it potentially becomes. The game was only announced officially at last year’s E3, so fans haven’t had very long to wait, a little longer won’t kill them.
