For as cool as the features in the steam controller seem, I do miss the days of the crappy $20 wired logitech controller.

I feel like the companies that make controllers have gotten so obsessed with including as many "features" as possible in their controllers at the cost of affordability, when you really don't need most of the stuff in there. And it sucks!

Unfortunately, I think I am one of those gamers who had/has a less-intellectual appreciation of Cruelty Squad. My enjoyment in the game is from the mechanics, and I certainly find myself adopt the behavior of one who takes the piss regarding the game's art misdirection. But there is some genuine appreciation there that I don't think I can articulate -- it may be a latent understanding of some of the themes which only now have popped into my conscious as a result of someone else articulating them (ty Lilith), but that sounds like cope; I'm probably just one o' them basic b*tch gamers who likes it when I, the chad protagonist, makes the target, the virgin capitalist, go explodey (in a reversible manner).

Novel kinesthetic experiences in games still tickle me.. it's why I bought a Wii at the ripe old age of 25 just to try out all the amazing things I could do with the Wii Motion Plus. I still think the best version of Cooking Mama was the iOS one, the combination of the touch and tilt controls really made it feel like a fancy toy.

My fascination with the kinesthetic experience extends to unique control schemes and physics in games, too. Games like Fight Night where the twin sticks mime the movements of different Punches. There's this swordfighting game that's in Early Access hell called Exanima that I just love the feel of. It's all physics based so despite the incredibly serious low medieval fantasy thing it's going for, it looks like you're controlling a marionette made outta jelly. But it feels sooo nice to land a hit with your jelly warrior. The actual game sucks so it's really just a toy for freaky sensates such as myself

An amazing read that nails the things I’ve felt about this series however the comment about the series falling off in quality is one I only slightly take issue with. I do think this is a statement that pops up one too many times, from other sources that is, but based on what you love about this series so far, I think that this series does not fall off in quality and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series as well.

Love to see someone who shares my unpopular opinion that Mother 3 is actually a worst-in-series misstep. Impeccable haterism to place it like that, though probably a bit harsh.

Also I'm going to steal "feels like cheating" as a descriptor for Disgaea's gameplay.

Hey, I played Collective Unconscious with Crystal :D Out of all the Yume Nikki fan games, it definitely feels the most social by design, even down to the title. It's the only one with emotes, there are puzzle rooms that feel like RPG Maker versions of Fall Guys. Yume 2kki is the other community made Yume Nikki fan game, but that feels more like a community art expo compared to Collective Unconscious' virtual world vibes. In a good way, playing it with Crystal and Izzy made me feel like I was playing Club Penguin again.
