Activision’s Call of Duty franchise has been the juggernaut that made the once World War 2 focused series a household name. Whether it’s the sometimes controversial stories, or the extremely popular multiplayer, the series has become one of the industries mainstays. So when Activision announces, after weeks of speculation and leaks, just what exactly the next one in the series is, people take notice.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare takes players to a future where the Earth has been stripped of all of it’s resources and rely on off planet work forces to get new ones from distant worlds. When one of these colonies (the “Settlement Defense Front” or “The Front” for short) goes in to business for themselves it puts the entire solar system at war.

Developer Infinity Ward have added several new things to spice up the solo campaign this year, the biggest addition being fighting in a small spaceship called a Jackal. It’s unknown at this time whether it’ll be fully controllable or just on rails turret sequences like the series has done before. Also your character, Captain Reyes, will be in control of a large spaceship that will serve as a home base of sorts throughout the story.

Multiplayer details are still scarce but Infinity Ward has said that that players will be able to achieve goals in “creative ways based on their specific play style.” In addition the popular Zombies mode will be making it’s way to an Infinity Ward developed game for the first time. It’s stated to be in a totally different universe from the main game, so sadly no space zombies.

Possibly the biggest thing that has caught people’s attention is the fact that the special edition of the game comes with a remastered edition of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Arguably one of the most popular and influential shooters in recent memory the remastered version will also contain ten multiplayer maps for people to play on. Of course if you want all that you need to shell out $80 for the special edition and, for now, won’t be sold separately..

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare comes out November 4th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
