PAX South was practically in Gearbox Software’s backyard and they didn’t waste the opportunity.
They announced DLC is now available for the Pre-Sequel and it will add a new playable character/class and yet another piece of DLC will let you go “in the mind” of Claptrap. Also announced was Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, a generational upgrade for Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel, will be released in March. It’s great to see Gearbox supporting their games so thoroughly with DLC.
The biggest news however was Gearbox’s announcement that Borderlands 3 is next on their list of development but they haven’t even begun yet. With Pre-Sequel getting its final pieces of DLC it shouldn’t be too surprising that Gearbox is ready to move on. That development process began in earnest at PAX South with a call out to industry developers who’d like to join the Gearbox team and begun work. Gearbox also seemed open to receiving ideas from fans via social media about the upcoming title.
It’s great to see Gearbox open up about development like this. Revealing more about the process, the work, of creating a game will hopefully create more respect from video game fans. But if we’re honest everyone will complain about Tiny Tina for the rest of time.
